Dontabla started as a dialogue between developers, financiers and property specialists dedicated to the recreation of individualised specialised industrial, mixed use, commercial or residential spaces within high density contexts.

“Dontabla” translates as latin slang for “the chopping block” where a forging of architectural ideas and concepts meet pragmatic problem solving. Architectural design can at times present itself as an isolated solution to a context without the correct application. At Dontabla we have developed unique relationships with our clients to maximize their investment while providing an equally sensitive architectural response.

Graduated in 2008 to join Wessels Architects with his father. Has steered numerous projects to completion until starting Dontabla Architects on a new direction. Presently Sean has the most experience in contract procurement and legislative processes. His expertise lies in concept and feasibility study’s to advise best on commercial success of a development, conceptual analysis, contract procurement, and legislative processes, allowing him to successfully navigate the complexities of various projects.

Professional Architect with 18 years experience in Construction Industry. Together with a strong ability to communicate, team building, diplomacy, problem solving in high stress situations as well as a deep understanding of the human and technical component required to successfully deliver a product in the construction industry. These attributes are accompanied by an ability to identify problems and limitations which may require agile and flexible problem solving in design.

Paul has worked on various projects throughout his career spanning more than 20 years, ranging from minor residential additions and alterations, office blocks, commercial projects, healthcare and large scale greenfield educational projects valued up to R320 million.

Paul has vast experience in all aspects of architecture, from sketch design to construction stage and detailing, with loads of site experience as well as project management experience.

Paul thrives on construction detail drawings and ensures every drawing is of a high standard and leaves the office with surety in mind.
